Shame

Shame is a type of awareness we gain of our person through the view of an other. Our interior self sees what someone else does and responds.

If no one else were alive, shame wouldn't happen.

The reaction implies that there are ways of existing that are not meant for others. Ways of being that are designed to be private. It’s why someone feels like they want to hide when they experience it.

What parts of our selves, then, should not be available, what parts demand discretion, and what parts are made for everyone?
