The Transitory and Nudity

We are more at ease with nudity if it's transitory. Owning or watching films that contain it, buying a magazine, and scrolling through feeds on our phones, are all acceptable, because it's on fleeting mediums. No one can claim you posses it if it's hidden within something meant to be disposable.

A static image hanging on a wall, on the other hand, is unflinching. We can't deny it's there, so it's pointless to observe it out of a peripheral kind of logic. We must face it. This is why most people don't have nude art hanging in their living room. I doubt most want it any other way either. We like that the human form is shrouded.

Though this may sound presumptuous, I rarely, if ever, see anyone acting otherwise. I believe this is the case for some simple and understandable reasons though: it enhances the hyperreality of it and allows individuals (along with organizations) to leverage sexuality to greater degrees. Both of these points are capable of informing and acting off one another as well.
