A Thought on Understanding
We come to understand and interpret our environment by contrasting it with what we already know. From here conjectures can become explanations. If our explanations about how things operate are easy to vary then they lack value. This is because our theory could never be shown to be false. As a result, it would always be tenable. Putting our ideas into a position where they can be falsified is the only process by which we affirm what is real.
