Nix Slowed Down

It was Valentine's Day, this past year, in the late evening. Nix was staying with us for a bit and we took advantage of the downtime as Hannah left with the kids. Since it was dark, most of the images were longer exposures. Whether or not I have to, I like using longer shutter speeds taking portraits. I think it forces an interesting gaze that is difficult to get otherwise.

I met Nix back in 2011 in upstate NY, when she came through, and we've stayed in touch, off and on, since. Three of the four times we shot were all in that same year. My process is a bit different now, so it's interesting contrast... for me anyway.
